‘Project Runway’ include ‘size inclusive models’ in new season
Lifetime reality show, “project runway”, kicks off season 16 with a couple of changes to improve their size inclusivity.
The show explains how they will include models ranging from size 0 to 22 on the runway in attempt to “[break] out the conventional modeling mold and [celebrate] body diversity.”
In past seasons , designers would be paired with a model and typically would remain with that model for the remainder of the competition.
The new season will have the models rotate each week to give each designer an opportunity to work with different models.
This season’s designers “must show off their skills and ability to make stunning creations, for any size,” Lifetime said.
Season 14 of the series was a bit of a highlight in relation to the representation of body diversity on the show. The season’s winner, Ashley Nell Tipton, took the victory with her final collection exclusively consisting of plus-sized designs.
“Project Runway” season 16 will be debuting August 17, in hopes of reinforcing their journey to prove size inclusivity is “in.’
